Surf Snowdonia – the first visions




With the granting of planning permission to Surf Snowdonia the race for the first commercial Wavegarden is now on. We caught up with Steve Davies MBE, Managing Director Conwy Adventure Leisure Ltd, the guys making this project happen. Steve kindly let us have a couple of exclusive CGI pics, and his visions and rationale behind the Welsh project.

“The recent granting of planning permission for the construction of an outdoor water sports centre on the site of the former aluminium factory at Dolgarrog in the Conwy Valley has set the scene for what is likely to be the world’s first commercially operational Wavegarden® surfing lake. In a comparatively short period of time we have developed a very comprehensive set of facilities, with surfing at its very heart.

Surf Parks: Wave of the Future or Conjuring of a Kook?



As Surf Park Summit ebbs near–Friday, September 13th in Laguna Beach, California–and the buzz flows heavier, I find myself rehashing all the wistful, pathetic remarks I’ve made to friends on flat days over the years. Man, if we just had a surf park in our backyard, cranking out perfect head-high sets right now…

Maybe we don’t all verbalize it ad nausea, but I’m willing to bet my limited quiver that a perfectly manicured wave in beautiful, blue 80-degree water has tickled all of our selfish surfing fancies at some point. Jimmy Slade himself has even been known to catch the feeling.

Enfin un projet qui pourrait envoyer du lourd !



At the Surf Park Summit, American Wave Machines owner Bruce McFarland reported that AMW has been contracted to build the largest wave/swell generating pool in history. The pool will be located in Meadowlands, New Jersey – a short drive from Manhattan. In the contract, AMW has agreed to build a seven-and-a-half foot wave, with rides ten to twelve seconds long.

Y a plus qu'a rallumer la centrale de Brennilis pour alimenter un wavegarden dans le lac et on surfe en short toute l'année (plus besoin de CO2! merci le nucleaire!)
